[1267] Ag Power & Equipment Technician john deere tractor used
|
|
Agricultural equipment has become more complex, precise, and expensive; and it is becoming more difficult for individuals to repair their own equipment. This program prepares students to be employed as technicians at farm implement dealerships, repair shops, businesses that use farm equipment or diesel engines, or to work on their own equipment.
This program stresses practical hands-on experience in the shop. Students learn the theory, operation, and repair of tillage, planting, harvesting equipment, and tractors. Opportunities to troubleshoot and service farm equipment are a valuable aspect of this program. Students study diesel engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, and hydraulics.. |

[815] Oil Change - Part 2 of 2
|
|
24 June 2008
The price of oil and petrol has reached - well the stratosphere (Ha - you have seen nothing yet) - and you might be forgiven for thinking that the world is running out of the stuff (We are), but in fact there are huge deposits just waiting to be exploited across the Tasman.
Billions of barrels worth trapped inside rock - the Aussie's are eyeing it up - dreaming of untold riches, and it's not pie in the sky. The Canadians are already extracting oil from sand by the truckload.
It's a brave new frontier, though of course there is a nasty catch.
***********************
Right then yes there is plenty in the ground - but the process to get it out of the ground and processed into anything useful is incredibly difficult and resource intensive.
The issue about running out of oil is not about how much is in the ground - it is about how much can be produced on a daily basis.
"Oil sands production is close to a million barrels a day, a little more than 1 per cent of global production. It's going to take a huge amount of effort, capital and time, maybe ten years, to double Canadian oil sands production. It's true that the Canadian resource is huge, but accessibility is long and slow. Our impact will be very slow." - Syncrude's Chairman of the Board - Marcel Coutu - July 2008. |
